Mary Shelley was born on February 15, 1797, in London. She grew up to be an author in her own right, though her first published work was not until after she married Percy Shelley in 1814. Her most famous work is ​Frankenstein (1818), which tells the story of a scientist who creates a monster out of body parts he procures from corpses at graveyards and dissects them. He names his creation Victor Frankenstein but soon discovers that it has become too intelligent.
