What type of clothing item is an "anorak"?

An anorak is a jacket that typically has a hood, but not always, originally worn by the indigenous peoples of the Arctic and designed to keep them warm and protected from harsh weather. The anorak jacket is still being worn today as a form of protection from weather; now, it is often made with synthetic, dry-wicking materials rather than animal furs.
