Bats are the only mammals in the animal kingdom with the ability to fly. There are two well identify species of bats, the microbats and the megabats, identified of course for their significant size difference among other characteristics. The largest species can fly about 30 miles. There are other mammals, like the flying squirrel that may seem like it can fly, but it actually has only the ability to glide.
