"Jack and Jill" (sometimes "Jack and Gill", particularly in earlier versions) is a traditional English nursery rhyme. Jill was originally spelled Gill in the earliest version of the rhyme, and the accompanying woodcut showed two boys at the foot of the hill. Jack and Gill went up the hill. To fetch a pail of water, Jack fell down and broke his crown. And Gill came tumbling after.
