The Ten Commandments are a list of religious precepts that, according to various passages in Exodus and Deuteronomy, were divinely revealed to Moses and were engraved on two tablets of stone. The Commandments are recorded virtually identically in Exodus 20:2–17 and Deuteronomy 5:6–21. The Ten Commandments establish rules of worship and forbid actions considered immoral or unethical.
